A photographic and video project by Ravi Deepres with support from Kevin Morris and Luke Unsworth. Both British Asians, Deepres and Morris went to last year's World Cup finals in Japan to create new photographic and video documentary work. This follows on from Deepres' previous work on sport and identity featuring previous football related work and an ongoing project with Warwickshire County Cricket Club on British identity. The pair having been born and brought up in England regarded the World Cup as an ideal opportunity to explore patriotism and national identity in relation to the diverse cultural integration at the tournament. A second photographer, Luke Unsworth joined the project to create further photographs to compliment Deepre's own work which will be included in a forthcoming joint exhibition. and book publication. The focus is predominantly on the travelling fans and the clash of football culture on Japanese culture. This new work is concerned with the adoption of identity and its influence on societies. The Japan work in particular looks at the representation of the St. George's cross. The images use football as a metaphor to explore these themes.

The group used a customised van in Japan which was painted in the English colours. The van acted as a patriotic object in itself as well as being used to travel around different stadiums, and was included in some of the photography and video work as part of the project.
