New work created during Euro 2004 made with the assistance of a two man crew and part funded by The Arts Council.

I am using football as a powerful metaphor to look at British national identity as it is currently, which is a multi-cultural one.
As a British Asian photographer / Film maker I am looking specifically at football supporters and the symbolic adoption / adaption of the St.George's cross.

This is important work which reflects the diversity of cultural heritage that makes up British identity. You can see this from the make up of the England team as well as the supporters who follow them.

Because football is such a global language I will also be looking at other nations expressions of patriotism specifically Portugal who are the host nation, and the cultural and sociological significance this has.

These symbolic and cultural themes will continue in the style of a visual/cultural journey, to specific locations around the country. This new material will be added to the existing body of work for a book publication and new future exhibition.
